Natural
Acne Remedies
Acne is a medical condition -- a skin inflammation -- that can
happen to anyone regardless of age. There is no real consensus
as to what causes acne. However, most dermatologists agree that
diet, stress, and hormonal imbalance are some of the factors
that cause the occurrence of acne.
Going the natural way is not a new trend in treating acne. In
fact, these so-called natural acne remedies have been around for
ages. Herbal medicines such as aloe vera, horsetail, lemon balm,
and tansy are commonly used for the treatment of acne. Some
preparations made from these herbs may be used directly on the
inflamed skin as topical treatments.
Also, homeopathy substances
like kali bromium and sulphur lotion or ointment are sometimes
used in treating acne. However, the aforementioned natural
solutions only work well when they are supported with proper
diet and adequate water intake. For this reason, the natural
acne remedies sometimes do not execute their intended solutions
all because they are hindered from performing their intended
task. Thus, changing the eating lifestyle might be the best
natural way for treating and even preventing acne. Avoiding
foods rich in oils, or in some cases rich in iodine, is a good
treatment.
Aside from the herbal or food-based natural acne remedies, there
are also physical activities that contribute in treating acne.
For one, stress reduction can help lessen acne, and in some
cases, totally eliminate acne. Also, proper sleep, meditation,
and yoga classes are some of the activities that reduce stress.
Meanwhile, aromatherapy is another stress-reducing method which
relaxes the body. In connection to this activity,
aromatherapists recommend using juniper essence in an olive base
to massage the affected area followed by bathing with lavender
water, while applying lavender cream also helps. However, the
use of these essences should be done cautiously as some may find
these topical solutions to cause skin irritation.
